Devil's Claw
Devil's claw, or Harpagophytum procumbens, is a plant that originally occurs in the dry areas of South Africa. The root tubers of this plant are traditionally used in local medicine for their supposed anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. The name "devil's claw" refers to the sharp, claw-like fruits of the plant.
In animal care, devil's claw is often applied to dogs, chickens, and horses. It is believed to help support joint health and promote a normal range of motion. For dogs, it can be useful for older animals or active breeds that need extra support. For chickens, devil's claw can contribute to good overall condition, while for horses it can assist in the recovery period after intensive training.
Although devil's claw is popular in natural animal healthcare, it is important to always consult a veterinarian before adding new supplements to your pet's diet.
